Ingrid Miethe was born and raised in East Germany and received her PhD
in Political Science from the Freie Universität Berlin. Her recent books
have included Frauen in der DDR Opposition (Women in the East
German Democratization Movement), and Politische Biografien und sozialer
Wandel ("Political Biographies and Social Change). Her newest
book, Europas Töchter: Traditionen, Erwartungen und Strategien von
Frauenbewegungen in Europa (edited with Silke Roth), focuses on the
implications of EU expansion for women and women's movements.
